Here is everything I have done with Vancouver’s prog rock sensations, Bend Sinister.
It all started when I decided to do a mini documentary about the Bend Sins in the summer of 2006. I had no work at the time and I was really into their music after being turned on to them by my younger brother, Scott Lewis, after he released their first record, “Through The Broken City” on his record label (Storyboard Label) in Montreal.
While we were making the documentary, Bend Sinister went into the studio to record their self-titled EP, also released on Storyboard Label. When Dan sent me some initial recordings, I knew I had to do a video for “Time Breaks Down”. I had just seen a dance performance by my friend, Karissa Barry, and knew she’d be perfect for the video. I pitched the concept to Bend Sinister and we applied for a Bravo!FACT grant through GoldStar Productions, who had been throwing me some freelance work editing their music videos. Long story short, we got the grant and made the video.
A friend of mine and the band’s, Gareth Madoc-Jones came to the set for the day and shot some of the behind-the-scenes of the Making of the Music Video.
A couple months later, I was doing some photography portfolio-building and decided I needed some cool band photos. Naturally, I called the Bend Sins and we went out and shot the Hotdog photo. By now, drummer Kevin Keegan had moved out to Montreal to pursue other projects and was replaced by Mike Magnusson.

We also did a few in-studio snaps for Storyboard to promote a show.

More recently, I shot the cover for Jon Bunyan’s other project, The Old Familiar, along with some promo shots of that band.
